Congratulations To JBH for Sponsoring The First Wheelchair Marathon for The Disabled in Hunan Province, Which Was A Complete Success

On November 7, the first wheelchair marathon for the disabled in Hunan Province, sponsored by JBH Medical, was held in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie. 102 athletes with physical disabilities from 14 cities and prefectures across the province competed on the same stage. Yin Huakai, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Hunan Disabled Persons' Federation, announced the start of the race.

At the competition site in Wulingyuan, a world natural heritage site, as the whistle sounded, the contestants tried their best to measure the 5-kilometer peak forest track with love and hard work, fully demonstrating the spirit of self-improvement, hard work and positive spirit of the disabled. Through the wonderful competition, Li Bin from the Changsha team won the men's championship, and Xu Chunfen from the Yueyang team won the women's championship.

In recent years, Zhangjiajie has attached great importance to the work of people with disabilities and the construction of barrier-free environment, proposed the comprehensive development of barrier-free tourism, launched the creation of a national barrier-free tourism demonstration city and a civilized city, and established the province’s first barrier-free environment construction promotion team. On January 1 this year, the country’s first local regulation on the construction of barrier-free environment in scenic spots was implemented-the "Zhangjiajie City Scenic Area Barrier-Free Environment Construction Regulations", and "accelerating the construction of barrier-free environment in cities and scenic spots" was listed as the first key people's livelihood project in 2024. The barrier-free environment in the city’s urban areas and scenic spots has been greatly improved, and the goals of smooth travel in cities, scenic spots, and communication have been gradually achieved.

After the competition, the contestants were invited to visit the Golden Whip Stream in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, known as “the most beautiful canyon in the world”. While enjoying the beautiful mountains and rivers, they experienced the convenience brought by the Golden Whip Stream barrier-free trail and the personalized service of the “five-in-one” staff of the scenic spot. They also watched the folk drama “Charming Xiangxi” for free and enjoyed the wonderful folk culture feast.

This wheelchair marathon for the disabled was hosted by the Hunan Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation and the Zhangjiajie Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by the Zhangjiajie Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation, the Zhangjiajie Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Broadcasting and Sports, and the Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan District People's Government.
